Head to Pt. Allen (west side). Just before you get to the harbor itself, turn left at the Nite Owl T-Shirt factory. On the right you'll soon see a very rutted road - (not recommended for low-rise vehicles such as sedans as we've often seen them stuck with deflated tires or damaged drive shafts, mufflers, etc. calling for a tow truck.) This is one of those "not for rental vehicles" roads. Although rented jeeps & SUVs would have plenty of ground clearance to travel down there, it is not a good idea for the well being of the vehicle you are in. The bluff above this beach was a dump at one time (literally.) So, Do NOT walk barefoot. Glass Beach is made up of pulverized pieces of glass from bottles and jars that broke apart over many years. Many people love to bring home some of the glass as a souvenir.
Services and Amenities: None
Cautions: Wear shoes if you are going to walk on the glass. Even though most of the glass is rounded glass pieces, it is better to be safe than sorry.
