 | Things to do: Helicopter Tours-Safari Helicopter Tours |
A family-owned company, Safari Helicopters was founded in 1987 by Preston Myers; retired full commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Preston has built his company and reputation on the sound principles of safety, professionalism and innovation-always striving to offer the latest in state-of-the-art equipment to assure passengers of an unsurpassable and unforgettable helicopter "safari."
Safari Helicopters was the first tour operator in the state to fly helicopter tours in air-conditioned B2 model ASTAR's. Dubbed the "Cadillac of sightseeing helicopters." Safari was also the first in Hawaii to offer two-way communication between passengers and pilots and the first and ONLY company on Kauai to install and operate a FAA-approved multiple camera video system to record passenger's actual tour and live narration. Safari is the first company to fly with new view panel, which has been dubbed the "Safari Skylight." The innovation is just one more feature that makes the ASTAR B2-7 aircraft superior to other ASTARs. The B2-7 offers a higher performance engine, the capacity to carry more weight, and has a higher service ceiling of 20,000 feet.
Safari's ASTAR helicopters seat everyone facing forward with no physical obstructions blocking the passenger's 180-degree view. Safari's $1.3 million "super" ASTAR 350 B2-7 features a left side pilot seat that gives passengers more leg room, higher visibility with large side "picture windows," and "Safari Skylight" window and innovation providing front and back seat passengers a tremendous vertical overhead view. It's ideally suited to Kauai tours because it allows passengers to look straight up when we are flying within the 3.000-vertical-foot Waialeale crater."
Safari's passengers will now enjoy the ultimate experience in choreographed flight. Safari now includes the New Generation Bose X headsets demonstrating Safari's reputation for attention to detail. The Bose X headsets are lighter, quieter and more comfortable then any other aviation headsets. The Acoustic Noise Canceling headset represent a whole new approach to passenger headsets where quiet and comfort meet to create a superior in flight experience. Safari's new Generation Headsets are a superb compliment to a passenger's overall experience of Safari's air productions.
Safari Helicopter Tours wants passengers to fully enjoy their adventure. We consider safety of the utmost importance. We hold to the axiom "there are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots." Safari Helicopters is FAA Part 135 Certified and exceeds existing SFAR71 deviation approval.
